Today is a bright, cool relatively dry day for us here in Central Florida.  The garden is warming and thriving in the sun.  Thinking I need to water my garden, I am reminded of the rainy days of late summer.

A Rainy Day

On this a rainy day I wake

Our little camper in strong wind does shake

Will this be an all day event?

Thank you God I am not in a tent.

I could see it as closed and dreary

And like my pup, look oh so weary

Could feel bored or stuck within.

Thank you God you are here, that makes me grin.

In only bout 300 feet square

A life so full it sticks out everywhere

More room have never had

To pray and sing praises, oh I am so glad.

Lord you sit at my dinette with me

So very cozy and close I need

Our little camper be perfect for us both.

So much space for “three” to grow.

As we walk around in our small space

Closer to one another, we planned.

My precious husband and I realize

Tis better than one hundred acres of land.

Always near, so soft voice carries

A tender touch ~ that’s my Gary’s

We know our Lord is with us here

In each tiny corner, there is no fear.

We walk with you Lord wherever we are

More time outdoors out under Your stars.

Each one confirming you are our God

Let us go forth and purpose to trod,

Toward an unseen tomorrow without fear

As we walk with you, Lord ~ we keep you near.

In My Path

As I learn to blog while listening to my heart, I pray what I share touches you and it has touched me to write. We all begin journeys. We start a new one every morning. Look for where your path is and watch for opportunities to lift up a brother or sister.  May you be blessed as I today!

In My Path

Those in my path, I am passing

Going about their lives

Oh, Lord why can they not see?

The shroud of this world

Hang’s over their eyes.

Dear God, that used to be me.

Please give me the love

That only you can show

The love I do not deserve.

Heavenly Father I want to reach souls

In you, I wish only to serve.

Dear God, please send me.

The more you cause me to grow

The deeper my roots become

The souls that I see walking

To you Lord, they must be won.

Dear God, deepen the bloom in me.

I must admit I so often stumble

When along my own path I trod

In this, I am to be humble

Keep me close to you, my God.

Remembering that used to be me.

Before, I was my own guide

Please dear Father there is such a need

No longer from You, I hide.

Dear God, that used to be me.

I must needs go forth and go boldly

With all you have given me.

And with loving care and understanding

Show them they can be set free.

Free from the death of their sinful nature

To grow in the grace of your love

Living by walking with you Lord

Angels will be singing above

Dear God, I remember that me.

May all the glory be yours, Lord.

As you lead me to those who are lost

To tell them all about Jesus

Who paid the ultimate cost.

Tomorrow is the eleventh anniversary of September 11. It is now a day called Patriot Day. We remember the towers that stood in the midst of many in New York City, and the other places directly affected by the terrorists attack on our country.  Do we focus on the terrible bloody scenes we saw that day on televisions across this country?  Do we go through the whole day without giving any thought to it?  Do we take time alone or in fellowship to pray for our country? Do we only pray this day for it?

As the song says “There She Stands”, are we standing strong, or complacent, or still feeling the pain of the day?   Where do you stand?  Are you standing on the mountain in the light of the Lord’s face and grace?  Do you know where you stand?   Are you standing in the shadow of a building now gone, in the darkness of the moment or in the light of that field where all around you is God’s creation?

As Romans 8:28, says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to his purpose.”

May I put before you to this day, purpose to find your focus.  Shadow, darkness or the light of His glory, it is up to you.  He wants you to come boldly to Him, to seek His face. To learn forgiveness and tolerance in the way that He means it.  He is waiting for you with love and a tender hand to heal your broken heart. Walk out of the darkness take His hand. He will change your life.

John 1:7  “The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light that all men through him might believe.”

My Garden

I have changed the name of my blog after just one post. Oh well, we ladies like to change our mind. Although Jewels of Grace Abound is deep in my heart, I thought The View From Debra's Porch will offer a broader spectrum to my readers.  I like recipes, both for eating and for home care.  My heart is always writing poems and those like that which follows, I pray will bless those who read it.
As I journey through my humble life, I desire to share my thoughts in hopes it brings a little light into you who visit.
Thank you for your grace as I begin this new adventure as God shows me the path to take.
May The Lord of Salvation bless you all.

My Garden

What do I find in my garden, as I walk in early morn?
Is there only flowers with drops of dews?
Or will I find a thorn?
Do I go about trying to clean it up?
Do I just enjoy the view?
That which is most needful is sitting here with You.

Does my bench upon which I sit
need to be just right?
Painted and arranged just so,
in shade or in the light?
Which way shall I face today?
Oh, what shall I wear?
That which is most needful is me with You just there.

For me to spend the morn with You
I ever so do hunger.
The garden that's around me here,
in all its beauteous wonder
to spend my morning time with You
in prayer and scripture verse, you're near.
That which is most needful is that I heed and hear.

Like The Seasons

“Like The Seasons”

"The Seasons of My Heart" Part I "

Like the seasons – a measure of time God created, our level of time with God can fluctuate, if we let it.  I desire to stay in the Spring for its beauty, the harvest for its bounty, but I know the Spring is only half way to the harvest.  Although a beautiful time, in the Spring the fruit is not yet ripe.  The Summer rains and heat are needed and after the harvest, the Winter must come as to let that which grows rest to prepare for the Spring and new growth once more.

Lord, I look to you for the season I am in and to ‘glean’ from your word that which I need most where I am. So that my Spring is rich with new growth and sweetness; and so that my Summer is dancing in the rain and rejoicing in the heat – like the fire that removes the dross from me.  The harvest that is full of bounty. It fills my soul with richness and your word that I might be fully nourished.  The winter, with its stark views, hiding a resting, renewing ground, with its cold and wind – only drives me closer to you, Lord.
